Fear of stigma and discrimination can prevent many in the LGBTQ community from getting the medical care they need. Not only does this have a negative impact on their health, but it also means that the LGBTQ community is often underrepresented in clinical trials. In launching the PRIDE study, researchers may have found a solution to this problem. By engaging with the community via apps and web platforms, they are having early success in building a cohort for the first large-scale, long-term national health study of people who identify as a sexual or gender minority.
